About the event

About Exhibition :

They have been following me ever since I swallowed the queen bee.

Gordey is a figurative painter, graduated from Central Saint Martins and Royal Academy of Arts, the Hague. At the age of 25, he accidentally encountered a bee corpse, and he used resin to make a specimen of it for the first time. Due to the lifelessness of the bee, Gordey received a huge sense of despair after the completion of the specimen.Subsequently, this experience stimulated his curiosity about bees.

"BEEWATCHER" is Gordey's first solo exhibition, meanwhile, positioning and summarising his research and studies on honeybees over the years. Through this exhibition, Gordey attempts to share his experience and possession with honeybees to the spectators.

"BEEWATCHER" is the premise of the entire exhibition. Gordy deeply believes that art is created through considerable observation and concentration. Through his works, he attempts to lead the spectators to experience the entire process of observation on honeybees; thus, presenting the unknown and static state of honeybees. The spectators will walk through the creative process from the point of view of the"BEEWATCHER". Gordey will reveal his habitual method of documentation, expressing his possession and thoughts on honeybees from photography, photo-processing, cyanotype and painting.
